Collection: Women's Costumes
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Weaver: Aldona Vaitonienė Colours:lilac background with dark purple, gold and cream
Photographer:Aidas Rygelis Odonelis
This costume was woven and sewn by Aldona Vaitonienė in the 1970’s in Toronto.  This costume has a more uncommon colour scheme with dominant lilac, purple, gold and cream. The patterns are not typical of any region, as the parents of many girls in the diaspora were not from the same region, and modern women enjoyed choosing their favourite patterns. Here, the apron shows a bright lily pattern inspired by her mother's handmade costume.
